I learned how to avoid what I call the Deprivation Rubber Band – how to make my good eating sustainable so I don’t “snap back” into bad habits. Every February I have a Wisconsin State Fair strawberry cream puff three pack. Every March, one box of Girl Scout Thin Mints. And Reese’s at Halloween. Knowing I’m going to have these things helps me not want them most of the time.
